Rivers Assembly Speaker commiserates with Bishop of Evo Diocese

The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon
Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani, was among mourners at the funeral service in
honour of late Mrs Eunice Oroma Ordu, mother of the Bishop of Evo
Diocese, Rt. Rev Innocent U Ordu, at the St. Andrew’s Anglican Church,

Commiserating with the bereaved family on behalf of the Rivers State
House of Assembly, the Speaker who noted that the things of God are

Christian who lived a purposeful life.

“Our late mother that we’ve come today to perform this rite of passage
for, from history and all that has been written about her, was one who

epitomized in the life that her son, the Bishop, is living today.

“When I was elected Speaker of the state assembly, that was the first
time I came in contact with the Bishop, the first person to give me a
Bible as a gift was the Bishop of Evo Diocese. He showed the nature

showed mama lived a good life, a life of dedication to God and

“On behalf of the Rivers State House of Assembly, it is our prayer
that the good Lord would grant her soul eternal rest. And I know too
well that the governor, His Excellency, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, who is
from this local government, if not for pressing state matters, would
have been here. I know he has declared severally that Rivers State is
100 per cent a Christian state. He would have been here. He wishes the
family of our lord Bishop, Rt. Rev Ordu, well. His prayer and the
prayers of the state will continue to be with the family of our
departed mother.”

The Arch Bishop of Ibadan and Bishop of Ibadan North, Most Rev Segun
Okubadejo, who took the sermon at the service, noted that the faith of
the deceased in Jesus and her love for the church were never in doubt
