The CCNA certified individuals are regarded on a top priority basis by almost every employer these days. This is because of the reason that they have the certification by the networking industry pioneer which validates that the individual is tested for all the necessary skills required to handle complex networks of any enterprise.

CCNA Routing and Switching certification allow individuals boosting up their skills in mastering in routing protocols such as EIGRP, OSPF, RIP. This certification covers the major topics used in the network industry. This covers up the basics of networking, OSI layers, TCP/IP layers, cabling, Cisco IOS, Routing and Switching, RIP/OSPF/EIGRP, VTP, WAN, VLAN, NTP/SYSLOG, ACL, IPV4, IPv6, IP Routing and other redundancy protocols.

The CCNA Routing and Switching exam consist of fifty to sixty questions comprising of multiple choice questions and simulations. The individuals are required to answer those multiple choice questions and they are given options to configure and troubleshoot the routers on the simulation. The exam duration is ninety minutes with no extra time given to the individuals however this is ample time to finish up the exam if you are fully prepared. Once the exam is passed, a new journey begins with a lot of new career opportunities and specialization in the same network market by taking CCNA to next expert levels like CCNP and CCIE.

The eligibility criteria are very simple for appearing in CCNA Routing and Switching, so even fresh candidates with no or little experience in networking can appear in CCNA Routing and Switching certification. They, however, have to prepare for a few questions that can be asked from them in the interviews by the most employers. They basically ask those questions to ensure that the applying candidate has the ability to tackle all the routine tasks.

Although CCNA Routing and switching certification certify individual’s capability and knowledge, though these questions can be good to go through before going to an interview:

IP addresses available types

IPv4 and IPv6 are the two types of IP addresses available. IPv4 is a 32-bit address and IPv6 consists of 128-bit address.

What stands for OSI layers?

OSI layers stand for Open System Interconnection which is a set of rules used for describing the number of networks. There are seven layers designed as per the International Standard Organisation (ISO).

Major functions of the transport layer

The major functions are inclusive of segment fragmentation, reliable data delivery, error detection, flow control, multitasking etc.

Data Capsulation and De-capsulation

Data sent from the high layer to the lower layer creates adding up information to original data which is called capsulation. When this process occurs in reverse it will remove some data from the original one meaning de-capsulation of data.

Router major functions

Packet Switching, Packet Filtering, Internetwork Communication, Path Selection, Quality of Service (QoS).

Cable Types

There are two types of cables available: “Straight through cable” and the other is “crossover cable”.

Describe DHCP and its main purposes

DHCP stands for dynamic host configuration protocol and it is based on bootstrap protocol (boots), it allows devices to acquire addressing information. It is built on the client-server based model.

CDP definition

It is basically a Cisco discovery protocol with the purpose of finding adjacent Cisco devices.

Type of routes available in Cisco Routers

One is static or default route and the other is the dynamic route which picks up its path itself.

Switches and ports in switches

Switches are required to break up large collision domains into smaller one. Basically, it is a layer device with two ports: one is access port and the other is trunk port.

There are more similar questions that may be asked in CCNA Routing and Switching interview so make sure you get prepared for them before going to an interview.
