Newspaper Vendors,Distributors Commence Strike Over Assault, Harassment By Rivers State Task Force

Newspaper vendors and distributors haved commenced strike in Port Harcourt over alleged assault of their members by officials of Rivers State Government Task Force on enforcement of ban on street trading and illegal motor parks Revelation Agents has learned.

Correspondent of Authority Newspaper in Rivers State,Blessing Ibunge confirmed to our repoeter that the vendors and distributors have stopped the collection of Newspapers that arrived Port Harcourt this morning. Stakeholders in the industry who spoke to this online platform called on the leadership of the Task Force to look into the issue as Newspaper vendors all over the world are not treated as street traders.

They equally called on Nigeria Union of Journalists in the state to wade into the matter with a view to resolving the issue.

The Special Adviser to Governor Wike on Enforcement of ban on street trading and illegal motor parks Bright Amaewhule did not respond to text messages sent to him by Revelation Agents neither did he pick our calls
