In his continued resolved to sustain positive synergies between government agencies, the Director General (DG) of National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD), Dr Obi Peter Adigwe led a delegation of his management’s team to visit the DG of Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Mr. Osita Aboloma, at the organization’s headquarters in Abuja recently. The collaborative engagement focused on the areas both NIPRD and SON would strengthen in their services to impact on improving the living standards of Nigerians.
Dr. Adigwe harped on the expertise and up to date accreditation status of NIPRD with ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 17025:2015 Quality Management Systems and Testing laboratory certifications respectively, which indicate commitments to providing high integrity services to all clients of the institute.
Assurances were jointly reached to enhance Surveillance Audit of services and products by SON, the provision of technical support and fee waiver for the training of more Certified Quality Management programmes across the country.
The DG SON thanked the DG NIPRD for the visit and reaffirmed that SON will always be available to partner with the Institute. He commended the renewed zeal of the Institute under his leadership to sustain QMS and even attain the current version through Transition.
The need for improved synergy between the two Institutions would ensure more efficiency in promoting that Nigerians get value for their payments for both products and services procured. This would improve customer satisfaction and guarantee safety and reliability in use of goods and services.
The DG SON requested NIPRD to partner with the organisation to establish standards for new products and services in the country particularly in the field of Nanotechnology and traditional and herbal medicinal commodities in use in the country.
