NSCDC Rivers Command Arrests 21 Suspects,2 Dangote Trucks Conveying Illegally Refined Products
The State Commandant NSCDC Rivers Muktar Lawal has reiterated his commitment towards ensuring the protection of the critical national assets in the state. This was clearly demonstrated in the tempo at which the special anti vandal team of the NSCDC makes arrest in the state
- On 17/08/2019. At about 0400hrs the anti Vandal patrol team arrested 6 suspects and 2 open bodied trucks belonging to Dangote Company along Eleme Refinary Road Port Harcourt. The trucks were loaded with product suspected to be illegally refined AGO concealed in unquantifiable Polythene bags hidden beneath bags of salt.
- On 18/08/2019, At about 0100HRS a J5
Bus loaded with suspected AGO concealed in 30 fifty litres Jerrican were also arrested along Abonema Wharf road. No suspect was arrested as they fled on sighting the Anti vandal team.
- The same date, at about 0210hrs, 3 suspects and a Sienna bus with Registration number BDG 906 FB fully loaded with products Suspected to be illegally refined AGO concealed in nylon bags were also arrested along UTC junction.
- At about 1400hrs 18/08/2019 same day,a barge with 6 compartments, 4 filled with suspected crude oil were also arrested at a creek within Deutsch Island, Okrika LGA. Rivers State. The Barge is currently at the NSCDC Jetty At Ogbogoro.
As a result of the strong synergy developed between the NSCDC and other security agencies in fighting oil theft in the state, 11 suspects were handed over to the corps by the OPDS and the Nigerian Army on grounds of illegal dealings in oil businesse in the state.
The arrested suspects are currently being interrogated and would be charged to court for possible prosecution.
