Ekpeye people in diaspora have been enjoined to partner with the traditional institution to grow the ethnic nation, with a call on them not to neglect their own home while growing the economies of the countries where they reside.
Eze Igbu Upata III of Upata Kingdom, HRM Eze Felix Enene Otuwarikpo made this call in a keynote paper he presented at the 2019 Annual Convention of the Usama Ekpeye USA Inc. which held on Saturday, July 6 in Atlanta Georgia, USA.
He urged them to shun conducts and comments that could hurt the unity and harmony of the people and, stressed the need to ensure total synergy to assist deepen the ongoing peace process.
While he called on them to continue to tell the traditional institution the truth at all time, Otuwarikpo advocated for the reform of the traditional institution if Ekpeye must move forward.
Noting that the “greatest challenge in Ekpeye now is to consolidate on the achievements of late Eze Robinson O. Robinson,” the Upata traditional ruler lauded the late monarch for his selflessness.
He reiterated however that the relevance or otherwise of the vacant stool of Eze Ekpeye Logbo will be determined after the one year mourning period.
HRM Otuwarikpo used the opportunity to brief them on the efforts made by the traditional rulers to return peace to Ekpeye and advised against believing “hook, line and sinker” stories of insecurity as some are “calculated to discourage them from returning to their land.”
Because, according to him, “some persons are benefiting from the crisis in Ekpeye land. So, they wouldn’t want peace and we cannot continue to fold our hands and watch that happen again. Never again should we allow our land to be ruined by miscreants.”
The Eze Igbu Upata who announced that the environment in Ekpeye is now ripe for investment, emphasized also that “land in Upata kingdom is free for any foreign investor” who would wish to invest in Upata Kingdom.
Otuwarikpo highlighted on his achievements as Eze Igbu Upata, noting his focus to include human capital development and creating investment friendly environment.
