The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Nigeria has rejected the shift in election date by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC).
In a statement by the National Chairman of PDP,Prince Uche Secondus Today morning, February 16th,2019 the party said the postponement of the Presidential and National Assembly elections by INEC is an agenda by President Muhammadu Buhari to cling to power.
He said “I hereby call on INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu to resign immediately” The statement explained that It is regretful that President Buhari who made a promise at the signing of National peace accord that the election will be conducted in a fair and transparent atmosphere has gone ahead in breach of the peace agreements to send soldiers and other security agencies to arrest, harass and intimidate opponents in Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Kwara, Kano, Kaduna states
The INEC Chairman today morning announced reschedule of the Presidential and National Assembly election billed to hold today February,16th,2019 to 23rd February 2019 and that of Governorship and state House of Assembly billed to hold on March 2nd to March 9th,2019
