Tension is now mounting in Bodo community in Gokana local Government area of Rivers State, Nigeria following the reported killing of over three persons on Monday night, August 5, 2019 by suspected cultists, Revelation Agents has learnt.
Battle for territory control may have precipitated the war between suspected Greenlanders/ Deygbam coalition and Dewell cult groups in the community.
A source in the community told our reporter that three of the persons who were killed on Monday night are innocent while the other two are suspected to be cultists.
Our source also alleged that killings have been going on in the community but is under reported because relatives of the victims are not always willing to report to security agencies. The names of those reportedly killed are Baribefe Bornu,Tombari Thomas Vikpee from Bodo while Edward Bariziga is from B-Dere community.
When our reporter called the spokesperson of Rivers State Police command, Omoni Nnamdi concerning the incident, He asked our reporter to send him a text.Nnamdi Omoni is yet to respond to text messages sent to him as at time of filling this report.
However. the Youth President of Bodo community, Kpoobari Patah confirmed the incident to our reporter. The Youth President revealed that atleast five persons were reported to have died from the attack.
He accused some prominent persons in the community of sponsoring armed gangs in their for their own selfish interest.
The Youth President also stated that the community is not sincere about the issue on ground while urging security agencies to investigate all the leaders of the community with a view to ascertaining those behind unrest in the community.
He further threatened to expose the names of prominent leaders sponsoring armed gangs in the community if they continue to do so.
At the meantime natives fear that Monday killing may trigger reprisal attack.
The natives urged security agencies to live upto their responsible of protecting lives and property.
