Rivers State Police Command Arrests 17 Sea Pirates,Recover Arms,Other Exhibits

The Rivers  State Police Commissioner,CP Joseph Mukan in a  statement issued on his  behalf by spokesperson  of  the  command,Deputy Superintendent of  Police(DSP),Nnamdi  Omoni says operatives of the Marine Division of the Command, in a follow up on the attack of the Men of the Special Protection Unit (SPU) Base 5, Benin that  were attacked by Sea Pirates on 24/5/2020 at Egelegele River in Degema LGA in a well coordinated operation Wednesday night(27th May,2020)
arrested one Destiny Ubani ‘m’ and 16 others who allegedly carried out the dastardly act, where the men lost their Arms and Ammunition.
DSP Omoni disclosed that the suspects are currently helping the Police and making useful confessions, while efforts  have been intensified to arrest the remnants of the criminal gang, said to be responsible for the attacks on passengers   along the Degema, Asari Toru and Akuku Toru Waterways.
The spokesperson of Rivers  State Police command said , the following Exhibits were recovered:-
     i.  Two AK 47 Magazines
     ii. Different charms/Ammulets
    iii. Gas Cylinder
    iv. Assorted Handsets/cash of #50,000.00
    v. Two Speed Boats used in the attack.
He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Joeph G. Mukan psc (+) is strongly appealing to the residents of the three LGAs of Asari Toru, Akuku Toru, Degema and indeed other Coastal Communities to increase their security consciousness and assist the Police with useful information that can lead to the arrest of the rampaging Sea Pirates terrorizing them,  via the following Security Numbers:
