The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) has denied having an underground cell in its facility at Wuse 2,Abuja,Nigeria.
EFCC zonal head of Abuja zone Aminu Aliyu made the denial on Tuesday 4,February,2020 while taking journalists round the facility.
Mr Aliyu said contrary to the claims of Senator Shehu Sani who was representing Kaduna central in the 8th National, the commission does not have an underground cell.
Senator Sani had accused the anti-graft agency of keeping him in an underground cell for thirty days before his arraignment in court.
The EFCC zonal head revealed that because of the conduciveness of the detention facility of the commission suspects begs judges to be remanded in EFCC custody instead being taken to Nigeria Correctional Centre.
He explained that suspects detained in EFCC cell is fed three times a day and there is hospital in the facility which treats detained suspects if there are any health challenge.
He urged the media and the general public to discountenance insinuations that the commission has underground cells.
