Civil Servants in Rivers State may smile in 2020 following the set asiding 8 Billion naira in the appropriation bill 2020 for new minimum wage which was passed yesterday 27 December 2019 at the floor of the House of Assembly. The development was made known to Journalists by the Majority leader of theHouse,Martins Amawhule.
Earlier the acting chairman, committee on 2020 Appropriation Bill, Hon.Enemi George said the committee critically looked into the appropriation bill submitted by the Governor, Barr.Nyesom Wike and all members are satified with the #530 billion bill sent by the Governor which covers #156 billion for recurrent expenditure and #374 billion for total capital Expenditure. Hon. Enemi further added that it seeks for that the Bill be passed for the growth and progress of Rivers State.
Also speaking at pleanary, the chairman House committee on supply and speaker of the House, Rt. Hon.Ikuinyi Awaji Ibani said the house committee on supply is in agreement with the 530 billion naira 2020 appropriation bill which 15 billion set for administration and secretarial works,136 billion for economic expenditure, 2 billion for law and Justice, 138 billion for social sector, 57 billion for special dates, as well as 24 billion for loan repayment. After deliberation, 25 Lawmakers stood in favour of the Bill to be passed.
Our correspondent reports that almost all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly are in support of the Bill because it captures all the 23 local government areas in the state.
