A Port Harcourt based human rights lawyer,Barrister Higher King has faulted the arrest and parade of a blogger Mr Dikeocha Chukwuebuka the Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) in PortHarcourt who was alleged to have published fake pictures of detention facility belonging to the anti-graft agency.
Barrister Higher King in a Telephone interview with Revelation Agents on Friday morning argued that since the case is between the EFCC and the blogger, the agency would have referred it to appropriate authority for investigation and further actions
The Human rights lawyer further explained that the case has nothing to do with financial crime and as such the matter would have been investigated by the appropriate authority.
On the revelation by the Zonal Director of EFCC PortHarcourt,Usman Imam that the blogger has confessed to the crime,Barrister higher King queried the integrity of such confession. The legal practitioner disclosed that such things are not confession as accused persons purported to have confessed in detention facility of security agencies in most occasion revealed that it was done under duress when they appear in court.
The Zonal Director of EFCC PortHarcourt branch, had paraded Mr. Chukwuebuka accused of publishing a fake detention facility without roof belonging to EFCC. The agency had on 13th February in a statement denied having such overcrowded detention facility without roof, which also shows suspects in dehumanizing condition.
