Lawyers Watch for Justice International Initiative(LAWJII,)has dismissed insinuations by lawyer to Dandyson Onuah,Chizy Enyi Esq on Rythm 93.7FM morning news on Thursday 27th February,2020 that Barrister Geoffrey Ikechi Onuah Esq made a confessional statement on his alleged involvement in a purported attempted murder case.
The spokesperson of the group Barrister Gbenga Oladapo who doubles as lawyer to Geoffrey in a statement made available to Revelation Agents said his client did not make any confessional statement because he did not commit any crime.
Barrister oladapo Esq explained that the group received with shock the news of arraignment of Geoffrey Ikechi in a court in Abuja when there is a matter presently pending in court before Honourable Justice Chechey.
He disclosed that the matter came up on the 3rd and 6th February,2020 and adjourned to 1 and 2nd day of April, 2020 for hearing .
The LAWJII spokesperson said “is worrisome that Geoffrey Ikechi can be arrested on a matter still pending in court on the same subject matter and the same party and also arraigned in a court of completely different jurisdiction”.
Barrister Oladapo described the development as an affront to rule of law and said it must not be allowed.
He revealed that it was a grand plot by the same persons Geoffrey Ikechi dragged to court and their cohorts to stop Geoffrey Ikechi from taking up his mandate as CLO of an oil company in his community.
The legal practitioner noted that the arraignment of Geoffrey was coming on the heels of press conference by Chairman of Ikwerre local Government area,Hon Samuel Nwanosike decrying the activities of the persons Geoffrey had earlier dragged to court with a call on relevant Government agencies to intervene in the matter
Barrister Oladapo added that LAWJII will not rest on its oars until Justice is served.
