There was mild drama on Tuesday February 6,2024 as some women from some streets in Mile 2 and Mile 3 Diobu,PortHarcourt protested to office of PortHarcourt Electricity Distribuction Company(PHED) close to Mile 1 flyover,Diobu over the inability of their husbands to have romance with them at night due to intense heat waves occassioned by alleged poor power supply by the PortHarcourt Electricity Distribuction Company.
The women matched through streets like Dim,Wokoma,Wokoma lane,Obaziolu,Dim lane,Egbuagu,Azikiwe,
Ojoto streets before heading to PHED office.
The women with several placards with inscriptions such as ‘No Light No Payment’, ‘The Heat is too much’ etc lamented the untold hardship they are facing .
The protesting women who said their husbands are no longer touching them at night due to heat wave lamented their inability to preserve cooked foods for weeks and how their business have been grounded due to alleged poor power supply by PHED
The women said they cannot be paying for darkness .The protesting women promised to re-mobilize and come for another peaceful protest if the condition is not improved.
As at the time was reporter left the scene no official of PHED at their office at Mile 1 flyover has responsed to the protesting women
