There was mild drama in front of Divisional Police headquarters in Mile 1 Diobu, PortHarcourt, Rivers State on Thursday morning as a physically challenged man Mishark ugwusie was seen protesting alleged molestation by officers attached to the station.
An eyewitness, Chijioke Enyi who is a member of a Human Rights organization, Centre For Basic Rights Protection And Accountability Campaign said the man sat on the floor at the back of his vehicle which he had earlier put off to protest the alleged molestation.
Comrade Enyi revealed that after minutes of protest, the Divisional Police Officer of the station arrived the scene and took all the parties involved in side the station.
Narrating his ordeal to our correspondent, the Mr Mishark disclosed that he was heading to Ikoku junction when the officers stopped a vehicle in front of him which made him to halt immediately.
He disclosed that the officers opened his doors and jumped into his vehicle as he watched with amazement.
He stated that one of the officers gave him a slap when he asked why they were behaving like kidnappers.
According to the man, he became angry and decided to protest the ill treatment melted out on him by the officers.
He explained that the intervention and maturity displayed by the DPO made him to let go off the matter.
The spokesperson of Rivers State Police command, Nnamdi Omoni,a Superintendent of Police (SP) was yet to respond to text messages sent to his mobile phone as at press time.
