As the controversy between Labour and the Rivers State Government over the actual amount to be paid as minimum wage continues to rage, Leaders of Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC) has revealed that what the state Government paid was Christmas bonus not minimum wage.

Labour leaders led by Comrade Julius Daniel Chairman of Joint Committe negotiation team made the assertion on Rhythm 93.7FM view point programme today which was monitored by Revelation Agents.

The labour leaders explained that what was paid as minimum wage by the Rivers State Government in January 2020 salary is not minimum wage as it does not reflect what is contained in the template.

Labour also disagreed with claims of the state Government that there is a defect in the structure of the Labour secretariat that is the reason it was sealed by the state Government.

According to the labour leaders, the Bureau of Special Projects did not give any prior notice to the union on any defect in the structure of the building before they came to seal it on Sunday February 2,2020.

It would be recalled that the Special Adviser on Special Projects to Government Nyesom Wike,George Kelly had in a statement claimed that the Bureau of Special Projects sealed the secretariat because they wanted to carry out integrity test on the building after a defect was detected.
