The People of ward 17 in PortHarcourt Local Government Area of Rivers state affirned the candidacy of Erasmus Tammy during a unit to unit campaign by the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in the area on Saturday 28th September,2024.to sensitize people on the forth coming October 5th LGA elections.
The People who received the PHALGA ward 17 APGA candidate with much excitment told him(Hon Tammy) that he is their preferred candidate they will elect,come October 5th,2024
In an interview with Journalists at the sideline of the event,the Chairman of APGA in PortHarcourt Local Government Area Samuel Chinedu said “if you look at the campaign we did not buy crowd.The crowd is organic.Is a grassroot campaign.The People came out voluntarily.
“The people of ward 17 called on him to contest,that they want him to change the narrative of not delivering dividends of democracy to the electorates.We are assuring the people that he will be accessible and not disappoint them.
“APGA has Councillorhip candidates for ward 5 and 17 respectively.I am telling the people to vote our candidates for transparency and accountability.
Let the electorates change the years of economic and political decadence by voting for APGA candidates in the ward 5 and 17 respectively in the October 5th LGA elections”.
The Vice Chairman of APGA in PHALGA ward 17,Israel Clement in an interview with Journalists during the campaign said “what we did today is electioneering campaign,telling our people we have credible candidate.Hon Erasmus Tammy is a humble servant from humble background..Another person’s challenge is his challenge.He has being our Chief Security Officer(CSO),I can assure you that crime has reduced drastically.
“We want to vote him because he is not selfish.For instance,Federal Government will bring palliatives to this ward,some of the representatives will hijack it.Even those that suffered for the ward they will not give them.Mothers,elderly people they dont have respect for them.Tammy is not like that.He has being extending help hand to people despite not having political appointment.
“Tammy has people at heart.He is not going there to embezzle money but to serve people I urge the electorates in ward 17 to ensure Hon Erasmus Tammy is elected as the councilor on October 5,2024”.
Meanwhile Hon Erasmus Tammy during the campaign said if elected he will be holding monthly meetings with people in the ward to know their challenges and profer solutions to such challenges.He dis losed that he will reside in the ward and not in different hotel rooms so that he can be accessible by the people.
The Councillorship hopeful also reavealed that he will work in synergy with the LGA Chairman to ensure that projects that will positively impact lives are sited in the ward.
The APGA Councillorship PHALGA ward 17 candidate stated that he will partner with the Police Division in his area to enthrone adequate security.
Our correspondents reports that some participants in the rally carried placards with inscriptions such as “RSEIC we want free and fair ekection”, “Ensure Our Votes Count”, “Erasmus Tammy is our choice” etc.
The rally which atttacted mammoth crowd started at Iheodioma street Mile 2 Diobu through the 27 units of the wards and terminated at Iheodioma street.
Recall that the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission(RSIEC) had fixed 5th of October,2024 to conduct Councillorship and LGA Chairmen elections.
