Information at the news desk of revelationagents.com indicate that the Rivers State Police command has unmasked the identity of the armed men who attacked hostel D, housing female students of Rivers State University on August 24,2023 and robbed them of their valuables.
A source privy to the development informed revelationagents.com that the armed attackers are members of a particular HOUSE of Deygbam cult groups in Diobu axis of PortHarcourt.
Our source disclosed that some of the Executives of the HOUSE of Deygbam cult groups whose men are said to have carried out the attack on the female hostel D were arrested and quizzed by a tactical unit in Diobu last week Thursday.
We learnt that the leader of the cult group who denied participating in the operation admitted that his men were involved.
We gathered that some of the armed attackers who got wind of arrest of some high ranking members of their group had fled the area as Police intensify investigation.
SP Grace Iringe Koko spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command could not be immediately reached for comments.
Recall that some female students of RSU had on August 24th,2023 protested the invasion and raid of their hostel by suspected armed robbers.
The Vice Chancellor of the institution,Professor Nlerum Okogbule days after the incident,instituted a panel to investigate the attack .Professor Okogbule also denied insinuation in the public that female students were raped.
The Rivers Commissioner of Police had in a statement through the command’s spokesperson,SP Grace Iringe Koko directed the Deputy Commissioner Operations, Area Commander, Port Harcourt, and the Divisional Police Officer(DPO) of Nkpolu Police Division Mile 3 to provide adequate security on the campus
The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Nwonyi Emeka, also called for vigilance and urged students, parents, and the school management to take advantage of the Police Control Room numbers for reporting suspicious activities: 08032003514 and 08098880134.
The Rivers State Governor,Similayi Fubara had also assured that the culprits will be arrested when he visited the institution on the day of the incident.
