Members of the Nigerian Senate have urged security agencies in the country to put good measures in place to arrest perpetrators of electoral violence. Senator. This follows a motion raided by Senator George Thompson Sekibo representing Rivers East Senatorial district who cited orders 52 and 42 on public electoral violence.

Senator Abdullahi Yahaya stated that irrespective of party affiliation, the responsibility of the Senate is to prevent and curb electoral violence.

On his part Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe said “the husband of the woman that was killed in Kogi state identified those that committed the crime and they should be arrested “.

The Senate resolved to condemn spate of killing in the country.The Senate also resolved to observe a minute silence in honour of those that lost their lives in just concluded Kogi and Bayelsa state elections
